A Case of the Week

Case 158

A twenty year-old female presented in our hospital suffering from difficulty of the extension of the right knee. The symptom of being unable to extend the knee is called ‘locking’ in orthopedic medical word. The locking of the right knee appeared since the last year. Although she could bend her knee, it was getting worse and eventually, she could not walk without the assistance of crutches. Intraarticular injection of local anesthesia gave her pain relief.
She received MRI of her right knee for further investigation.

What is your diagnosis about her knee disorder?

1. Discoid meniscus tear

2. Longitudinal tear

3. Radial tear

4. Horizontal tear

5. Bucket handle tear
