A Case of the Week

Case 18

A twenty three months-old infant was transported to our hospital for convulsion. That morning, she was in a normal state as usual. The convulsion suddenly occurred and continued for approximately two minutes. Then, her mother called an ambulance. She experienced a convulsion twice in the past. No special sighs were found at the hospital except high fever. Each time she had a convulsion, high fever was found. Body temperature was 39 centigrade in the ambulance. She received MRI showing a suspicious abnormal finding. Thereafter, the patient was routinely followed.
At five years seven months of age, she came to our hospital for headache. Laboratory test revealed abnormal findings except platelets 852000/mm3, ALP 602 U/L and LDH 290 U/L. She was given analgesic agent and her mother asked us to check her brain using MRI again.
