A Case of the Week

Case 82

A sixty three-year-old woman presented for hard protrusion extended from oral roof (hard plate, oral palatine) into oral cavity which seemed to tend to be gradually growing and inducing chewing disturbance. Oral cavity inspection showed lobulated bony whitish bulging mass sized 30 mm in length from hard plate. It had a component like a broad stalk and lobulated into three parts. She hoped to have a surgical resection. As surgical planning, she agreed to receive face CT (Figs 1 - 3).

What is your diagnosis based on clinical inspection and CT images?

1. Metastatic bone tumor

2. Osteosarcoma

3. Maxillary torus

4. Langerhans cell histiocytosis

5. Fibrous dysplasia
