A Case of the Week

Case 4

An eighty one-year-old male had suffered from appetite loss for approximately two weeks. Diarrhea occurred two days ago and thereafter, he ate little food. The additional occurrence of fever induced him to be unable to rise up and hard to breathe. His family called an ambulance car and the patient was admitted to our hospital. As his past history, he had emphysema since he was once a heavy smoker (tobacco 60 pieces/day). No neck lymphnode palpated. Laboratory test revealed K 2.2mEq/L, Cl 94mEq/L, BUN 23.1mg/dl, LDH 373U/L, CRP 27.3 mg/dl WBC 11580/mm3, leukocytes 93.8%.
